“What happened, donkey?” he asked.
“I’m hungry and I grazed all of here. I’m still hungry!” the donkey cried.

The two animals went to the vegetable garden each day until one day when a farmer spotted them and shooed them away.
As the night set, the jackal suggested that they go back to the vegetable garden.
The donkey and the jackal quietly snuck into the garden and chomped on and on till they were full.

“Not now! You cannot sing from here!” said the jackal.
“But, I want to,” said the donkey angrily.

The donkey sighed and began to sing.
Not so far away, the farmer and his family heard a donkey braying. They ran towards the donkey with sticks.

“Ow-ow-ow!” brayed the donkey as it walked back.

A hungry donkey was braying sadly in the nearby forest. After a long day’s work, its owner hadn’t fed it properly.
ลาผู้หิวโหยตัวหนึ่งกำลังร้องด้วยความโศกเศร้าอยู่บริเวณป่าใกล้ๆ หลังจากทำงานมาหลายวัน เจ้าของไม่ได้ให้อาหารเพียงพอกับที่มันต้องการ
Soon, a jackal passed by and saw the hungry donkey.
ไม่นานนัก สุนัขจิ้งจอกได้ผ่านมาเห็นเจ้าลาผู้หิวโหยตัวนี้
“What happened, donkey?” he asked.
"เกิดอะไรขึ้นกับเจ้าเหรอ?" สุนัขจิ้งจอกถามลา"
“I’m hungry and I grazed all of here. I’m still hungry!” the donkey cried.
"ฉันหิว ฉันกินหญ้าแถวนี้จนเกลี้ยงหมดแล้วแต่ฉันก็ยังหิวอยู่เลย!" ลาร้องบอก
“Oh, you know what there is a big vegetable garden nearby. You can go there!” said the jackal.
"โอ้, เจ้ารู้หรือไม่ว่ามีสวนผักขนาดใหญ่อยู่ใกล้ๆแถวนี้ เจ้าไปที่นั้นได้นะ!" สุนัขจิ้งจอกบอก
“Please take me there!” the donkey said.
"ได้โปรดพาฉันไปที่นั่นด้วยเถิด" ลากล่าว
Once in the vegetable garden, they quietly chomped fresh vegetables and ran away when they heard a noise close by.
ขณะอยู่ในสวนผัก ลากับสุนัขจิ้งจอกเคี้ยวผักสดอย่างเงียบเสียง และวิ่งออกไปเมื่อได้ยินเสียงแปลกใดเข้ามาใกล้

“Oh, such delicious cucumbers and look at the Moon! It is so beautiful that I would like to sing a song,” said the donkey.
"โอ้, แตงกวาช่างอร่อยเหลือเกิน ดูดวงจันทร์สิ! ช่างสวยเหลือเกินทำให้ฉันอยากร้องเพลง" ลากล่าว
“Not now! You cannot sing from here!” said the jackal.
"ไม่ใช่ตอนนี้! เจ้าร้องเพลงที่นี่ไม่ได้!" สุนัขจิ้งจอกบอกลา
“But, I want to,” said the donkey angrily.
"แต่ฉันอยากร้อง" ลาพูดด้วยความโมโห
“The farmer will hear you. I’m not going to be here for that,” the jackal said and ran away.
"ชาวสวนจะได้ยินเสียงของเจ้า ถ้าอย่างนั้นข้าก็จะไม่อยู่ที่นี่" สุนัขจิ้งจอกพูดจบก็วิ่งออกไป

ลาถอนหายใจและเริ่มร้องเพลง

“Ow-ow-ow!” brayed the donkey as it walked back.

“You should have waited till we were out of the garden to sing! Come on, you need to rest!” said the jackal.
"เจ้าควรต้องรอจนกว่าพวกเราออกจากสวนผักก่อนแล้วค่อยร้อง! มาเถอะ เจ้าจำต้องพักผ่อนเสียแล้ว!" สุนัขจิ้งจอกกล่าว
นิทานเรื่องนี้สอนให้รู้ว่า
"Be mindful of where you are. There is always time and space for things to do!"
"ควรใส่ใจกับสถานที่ๆ อยู่ เพราะสิ่งที่ทำย่อมมีช่วงเวลาของมันเสมอ"
