Hen and the Swallow)
A
hen finding the eggs of a viper and carefully keeping them warm, nourished them
into life.
แม่ไก่ตัวหนึ่งพบไข่งูพิษหลายฟอง
มันนำไข่เหล่านั้นไปกกดูแลอย่างทะนุถนอม ให้ความอบอุ่นและดูแลเพื่อฟักเป็นตัวไข่พวกนั้น

นกนางแอ่นตัวหนึ่งซึ่งเฝ้าดูอยู่ ร้องบอกแม่ไก่ตัวนั้นว่า “เจ้าไก่โง่ ! เหตุใดเจ้าจึงมัวฟักไข่งูพิษพวกนี้ เพราะเมื่อพวกมันโตขึ้นมา
มันจะทำอันตรายทุกคนแล้วจะเริ่มต้นกับตัวเจ้าเป็นรายแรก”
นิทานเรื่องนี้สอนให้รู้ว่า
“If we nourish evil, it will sooner or later
turn upon us.”
“หากเราหล่อเลี้ยงสิ่งชั่วร้ายไว้ สักวันหนึ่งสิ่งเหล่านี้จะกลับมาทำร้ายเรา”
