Once upon a time, there were thousands of tall and beautiful trees in a dense forest. Except one, whose trunk was bent. All the beautiful trees called the ugly tree a hunchback.The ugly tree woodered why god had not made it like the other trees, as birds never made their nests on it, nor could it give shade to travellers.

One day, a woodcutter came. Seeing the twisted tree, he felt he would be unable to cut long, straight logs from it. As he went near the beautiful trees with his axe, the trees were frightened.

Oneday one, he cut down all those trees. The ugly tree thanked God for not making it beautiful.

กาลครั้งหนึ่งนานมาแล้ว มีต้นไม้สูงใหญ่ และต้นไม้สวยมากมายในป่าทึบ ยกเว้นอยู่ต้นหนึ่ง ลำต้นถูกดัดงอ เหล่าต้นไม้สวยเรียกต้นไม้ขี้เหร่ต้นนี้ว่า เจ้าหลังค่อม

ต้นไม้ขี้เหร่ประหลาดใจคิดว่า ทำไมพระเจ้าไม่สร้างให้มันเหมือนกับต้นไม้ต้นอื่นๆ เพราะต้นของมันไม่เคยมีฝูงนกมาสร้างรัง และไม่เคยให้ร่มเงาแก่นักเดินทาง

วันหนึ่ง คนตัดไม้คนหนึ่งเดินทางมา เห็นต้นไม้บิดเกลียว เขารู้สึกว่า เขาไม่สามารถตัดต้นไม้ต้นนี้เป็นไม้ยาว หรือ ท่อนไม้ทรงตรงได้ เขาเดินเข้าไปใกล้ๆ กับต้นไม้สวยพร้อทด้วยฆ้อนในมือ เหล่าต้นไม้สวยตกใจหวาดกลัว คนตัดไม้ตัดต้นไม้สวยพวกนั้นจนเกลี้ยง ต้นไม้ขี้เหร่รู้สึกขอบคุณพระเจ้าที่ไม่สร้างให้ตัวเองสวยงาม
นิทานเรื่องนี้สอนให้รู้ว่า
