โชคไม่ดีที่เจ้าหมาป่า ตกลงไปในบ่อน้ำที่ลึกพอสมควร มันพยายามที่จะขึ้นจากบ่อน้ำนั้น แต่มันขึ้นมาเองไม่ได้
A Goat passed by shortly afterwards, and asked the Fox what he was doing down there.
ไม่นานก็มีแพะตัวหนึ่งผ่านมา แพะตะโกนถามเจ้าหมาป่าว่า "หมาป่า เจ้าลงไปทำอะไรในบ่อน้ำนั่น"
"Oh, have you not heard?" said the Fox; "there is going to be a great drought, so I jumped down here in order to be sure to have water by me. Why don't you come down too?"
"อ้าว นี่เจ้าไม่รู้ข่าวหรือ เขาว่าบ้านเรากำลังจะขาดน้ำนะ แล้งมากเลยด้วย ฉันก็เลยกระโดดลงมาในบ่อนี้ เพื่อให้แน่ใจว่าฉันจะมีน้ำใช้แน่ๆ แล้วเธอจะไม่โดดลงมาด้วยหรือ" หมาป่าถามกลับ
The Goat thought well of this advice, and jumped down into the well.
เจ้าแพะครุ่นคิดดูว่า หมาป่าให้คำแนะนำ ฟังดูดีนะ ว่าแล้วก็กระโดดลงบ่อน้ำไป
But the Fox immediately jumped on her back, and by putting his foot on her long horns managed to jump up to the edge of the well.
ทันใดนั้น เจ้าหมาป่า ไม่รอช้ากระโดดขึ้นหลังแพะ ต่อตัวกระโจนขึ้นไปปากบ่อทันที
"Good-bye, friend," said the Fox, "remember next time,
"ลาก่อนเพื่อนรัก จำเอาไว้นะ วันหลังอย่าหลงเชื่อใครง่ายๆ " (โดยเฉพาะผู้ที่ดูไม่น่าไว้วางใจ)

One day an old woman found an empty jar which had lately been full of prime old wine and which still retained the fragrant smell of its former contents. She placed it several times to her nose, and drawing it backwards and forwards said, "Oh most delicious! How nice must the wine itself have been,when vessel which contained it so sweet a perfume.
"The memory of a good deed lives."

วันหนึ่งหญิงชราคนหนึ่งได้พบเหยือกเปล่าใบหนึ่ง ซึ่งไม่นานมานี้มันเคยเต็มไปด้วยไวน์เก่าแก่ชั้นเลิศ และยังคงเก็บกลิ่นหอมของสิ่งที่บรรจุอยู่เมื่อครั้งก่อนไว้ได้
She placed it several times to her nose, and drawing it backwards and forwards said,
เธอวางมันบนจมูกของเธอหลายครั้งหมุนไปหมุนมาแล้วกล่าวว่า
"Oh most delicious! How nice must the wine itself have been,when vessel which contained it so sweet a perfume.
“โอ้ ช่างเยี่ยมยอดที่สุด! ไวน์ที่เคยอยู่ในนี้จะรสชาติดีขนาดไหนนะ ในเมื่อภาชนะที่เคยบรรจุมันยังหอมหวานขนาดนี้!”
