Near the river, Mother Duck was incubating five eggs. In due time, four of the eggs except the one egg didn't hatch. Suddenly, the egg gradually hatched. 

"Oh my goodness! How ugly it is! But mother duck welcomed it into the flock. 

One day Mother Duck took her five ducklings for a swimming lesson in the pond. On the way they came across a cow, a sheep, a pig. They made fun of the ugly Duckling and laughed at him. "Hey! What is that ugly think supposed to be?" 

In a moment the ducklings walked to come across cock and hen "Hey! Have you ever seen anything so ugly? Next day the ugly Ducking went astray in a baker home. When the baker saw the ugly Ducking he to shut" Go away, you ugly creature."

One day the ugly Duckling saw a flock of swans swimming below. He was so amazed by their beauty that he decided to fly closer to the stream. The ugly Duckling saw his shadow in the water it was the reflection of a graceful swan. 

In fact he had never been an ugly Duckling but it was swan. Finally it was able to find the real parents, and they lived happily ever after in the stream.

ใกล้ ๆ ริมแม่น้ำแห่งหนึ่ง มีแม่เป็ดกำลังกกไข่ห้าฟอง เวลาผ่านไป มีไข่เพียงสี่ฟองที่ถูกฟักเป็นตัวออกมา ยกเว้นไข่ฟองหนึ่งที่ยังไม่ฟัก

Suddenly, the egg gradually hatched. "Oh my goodness! How ugly it is! But mother duck welcomed it into the flock.
ทันใดนั้น! ...ไข่ฟองสุดท้ายก็ค่อย ๆ ฟักตัวออก "คุณพระช่วย ทำไมถึงขี้เหร่อย่างนี้" อย่างไรก็ตามแม่ก็รับลูกเป็ดตัวนี้เป็นลูกของตน

สักครู่หนึ่ง เหล่าลูกเป็ดได้เดินไปพบกับพ่อไก่และแม่ไก่  "นี่! เธอเคยเห็นตัวอะไรน่าเกลียดบ้างไหม?" พ่อไก่เอ๋ยถามแม่ไก่ 

Next day the ugly Ducking went astray in a baker home. When the baker saw the ugly Ducking he to shut" Go away, you ugly creature." 
วันต่อมา ลูกเป็ดขี้เหร่เดินหลงเข้าไปในบ้านคนขายขนมปัง เมื่อคนทำขนมปังเห็นมันเข้าจึงร้องตะโกนขึ้นมาว่า "ออกไปให้พ้นเดี๋ยวนี้ เจ้าตัวน่าเกลียด"

อันที่จริงมันไม่ใช่เป็ดขี้เหร่ แต่มันเป็นหงส์ต่างหาก ในที่สุดมันก็ได้พบกับพ่อแม่ที่แท้จริงและอาศัยอยู่ที่ลำธารแห่งนั้นอย่างมีความสุข

Before he got his beautiful tail, the Peacock was an ordinary bird, with a small bunch of feathers.

One day, the Peacock visited Juno, the Goddess of Protection. The Peacock told her that he wished to look grand and beautiful. Juno smiled. He was a good bird and she liked him.

The Peacock then described the long train of brightly coloured feathers that he wanted to trail behind him. He also wished to be the loveliest of all the birds!

To his great joy, Juno agreed.

What a wonderful tail he got! Blue and green with a jewel-like pattern, opening up like a fan when he raised it. Now the Peacock decided to walk like a king! So he held his head high and walked with style!

The common birds looked at him in surprise! Even the pretty long tailed pheasants were jealous!

After showing off his tail, the Peacock decided to fly.

The Peacock was shocked! He simply could not fly. He could take a few flying steps, but nothing more! He sadly realised that had lost a wonderful ability, simply because he had wanted to look good!

และมันก็ต้องตกใจสุดขีด เมื่อรู้ว่ามันไม่สามารถบินได้  มันทำได้แค่ก้าวแล้วเหินตัวขึ้นนิดหน่อยเท่านั้น ตอนนี้มันรู้แล้วว่ามันได้สูญเสียความสามารถอันยอดเยี่ยมซึ่งก็คือการบินของมันไปแล้ว เพียงเพราะมันต้องการให้ตัวเองดูดีเท่านั้น

นิทานเรื่องนี้สอนให้รู้ว่า

The Dancing Monkeys

A prince had monkeys in his court that could dance. As monkeys are natural mimics, they looked wonderful in their rich clothes and masks, dancing very much like human beings. Word spread far and wide about their unique performance and people from all over flocked to see them perform every day. Everyone was amazed at the monkeys’ intelligence.

One day, a mischievous courtier thought of playing a trick on the monkeys. When the monkeys were dancing, he took a pocketful of nuts and threw them upon the stage. As soon as the monkeys saw the nuts, they forgot dancing and leapt to grab them. They pulled off their masks and tore their robes fighting with each other for the nuts. Everyone started laughing at the entertaining sight.

The people realised that even though they looked like humans they actually were animals.

As soon as the monkeys saw the nuts, they forgot dancing and leapt to grab them. 
ทันทีที่เหล่าลิงเห็นเมล็ดถั่ว พวกมันลืมการเต้นไปจนหมดสิ้นและกระโจนเข้าหยิบเมล็ดถั่ว

They pulled off their masks and tore their robes fighting with each other for the nuts. Everyone started laughing at the entertaining sight.
พวกมันดึงหน้ากาก และฉีกเสื้อคลุมที่ใส่ออก ต่อสู้กันเพื่อแย่งชิงเมล็ดถั่ว  ทุกคนเริ่มหัวเราะเพลิดเพลินกับสิ่งที่เห็น
